Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Top 10

Good morning everyone! I originally wasn’t going to do a post on this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (N Sale) but after a poll on Instagram, you guys still wanted one! I am going to keep it brief though, because I feel like it can get a bit much with how bloggers emphasize this sale. Don’t get me wrong, it is a fantastic sale but even I find it overwhelming at times… and I am self admittedly obsessed with fashion! So I have narrowed it down to the Top 10 Items on my wish list.

This is also the easiest way to shop the sale. You can create your wish list in your online account and then add to cart when the sale becomes available to shop. I usually do shop in store at some point during the N Sale, but I have heard a lot of stores are struggling with stocking inventory. So this year I will be shopping from the comfort of my own home! Also remember, if something that you love is sold out, keep checking back as Nordstrom does restock some items.

This sale is usually when I grab a few staples for Fall. A great pair of jeans, a couple cute booties, cozy cardigans and fun coats. I actually found way more that I loved this year then I was expecting and it was hard to narrow the list down to 10, but I managed 😉

What to Wear this Valentines Day

Valentines Day may be a cheesy Hallmark holiday, but it sure is fun to dress the part 😉 I personally love to celebrate anything and Valentines is no exception. There are so many heart print items of clothing to choose from, all different price points. I have tried to gather a few of the more reasonably priced articles to shop from if you are looking for something fun and festive to wear this February 14th (or the week leading up to it like myself!) Whether you are heading out for a romantic dinner with your sweetheart, a “Galentines” get together with the ladies, or curling up on the couch with a Moscow mule watching something cheesy, I have covered your bases for you in the wardrobe department… LOL!

The Upcoming 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Why is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (NSALE) so amazing?

Unlike most sales which mark down older merchandise, it is NEW Fall items that are discounted during this sale and then the items return to regular price at the end of the sale in August. The deals are incredible and the brands that are featured are some of my favourites, not just the less popular ones. I usually treat myself to one item I have been obsessing about and then stock up on my Fall & Winter essentials: cute jeans, ankle boots, long cardigans, fun sweaters and dresses.

These were my picks from the Anniversary Sale last year and this was honestly one of the most fun posts for me to write:

Popular items sell out ridiculously fast! I missed out on a lot last year so I quickly got myself a Nordstrom credit card to make sure I had early access this year! The application process was simple, the card has no annual fee and tons of other benefits. There is still time to apply and get early access to the sale!

Important Dates to remember for this sale:

July 11, Level 4 card members get to pre-shop the sale in stores only.

July 17-19, all cardholders get to shop Early Access in Nordstrom Canada stores.

July 20-August 5, our biggest sale of the year opens to the public.

July 12-19, all card members get to shop Early Access in stores and online.

Prices go back up August 6.

Tie-Dyeing!

My step daughter is hilarious. She is constantly asking me if we can make things that she has heard about from friends or seen demonstrated in a You Tube Video. One week she will be begging me to make homemade slime, the next it will be flip-flops out of hot glue or sponge bombs?!

I feel like I am constantly saying no because the list of ingredients needed is so ridiculous. She came home from Art Camp this summer and had made a tie-dye pillowcase. She loved it! I decided this was one experiment I could get behind so off to Michaels we went to purchase a kit.

I am notoriously bad for not following instructions… if it is too complicated sometimes I just cannot be bothered. (Do not ever ask me to assemble IKEA furniture! My brain would explode… lol!) This project was thankfully super simple and she could basically do it by herself without me having to do it all for her 🙂

Wash the T-shirt before you begin (we decided to apply while the shirt was still wet)
Add water to the marked line on the bottle and shake well
Choose which pattern you wish to do from the instruction sheet provided (or the internet), place rubber bands where indicated for your pattern & apply the dye being careful not to oversaturate or the colours will run together
Wrap in plastic wrap for at least 6 hours
Rinse well & wash separately in the washing machine
Start rocking your sweet 70’s style T-shirt!!!

Of course she wanted me to make one as well. I think they turned out great and she loves it! She actually gets a ton of compliments when she wears her tie-dyed shirts (she has a few different ones now!) This was a relatively inexpensive and easy craft to do if you are looking for something fun to do with your kids 🙂 I see a collection of tie-dyed bags, shirts and whatever she can get her hands on in my future…. lol! I also have a sneaking suspicion what we will be giving out as Christmas gifts this year 😉

Fall 2017 Fashion Trends For Him

When the weather starts to cool, the nights get darker a bit earlier and my children start to crunch the leaves on the ground, it all means one thing… Fall is inevitable! I am a summer lover and am always sad to see it end, but one of the things I do love about Fall is the clothing (and Pumpkin Spice everything!!!) I sometimes feel like the men get a bit ripped off when it comes to fashion, as us women have so much variety in our wardrobes. This Fall may be the exception though… the clothing for men is looking pretty fun! Below I have summarized a few of the trends I believe you are going to be noticing in men’s fashion this Fall. Now it is up to you guys to see how adventurous you are feeling 🙂

Quilted Coats:

This isn’t a new trend but will still be going strong for this Fall. I think we will notice more colourful options as opposed to the standard black and grey. Such a warm and stylish option for outerwear!

One: Black Diamond Quilted Jacket * Two: Burgundy Quilted Jacket * Three: Midnight Blue Quilted Jacket

Fur Collared Jackets:

I love the look of faux fur or shearling on the coat collar! Adds some interest and texture to the jackets.

Graphic Sweaters:

Graphic shirts have been everywhere this year. The graphic T-shirts from Spring & Summer will continue and be transitioning into fun knitwear for the cooler months.

Turtleneck Sweaters:

Again turtlencks are not a new Fall trend, but this year the collars are a bit thicker and more exaggerated than some past years. A cold weather classic.

90’s inspired:

Retro has been huge the last couple of seasons. This year is no exception and 90’s style sweatshirts are popping up everywhere!

Corduroy:

Not just the usual shirts and pants, but entire tailored, corduroy suits will be making an appearance this season.

Foliage Colours:

Clothing this Fall will be coloured the same as the leaves falling from the trees. Lots of camel, moss & olive-green and bright orange will be huge this year.

One: Thermal Crew-Neck * Two: Olive Chino * Three: Camel V-Neck Sweater

Silk Shirts:

A continuation of the vibrant prints from this summer will be continuing into Fall. (Think Bruno Mars 24K Magic!) You can add a pop of interest with the collar sticking out from underneath a sweater or worn with a basic suit.

One: Tropical Foliage * Two: Scalloped Seashells * Three: Polka Dot
