Palm leaf print was one of my favourite trends form last year and I am so happy to see that it is going to be super popular again this year! There is something so happy about these bold leaves… they always gives me that sunshine, vacation feeling 🙂
This dress was one of my favourites from last year and lucky for you it has been restocked for Spring!
If a head to toe leaf print maxi is a bit too bold for your comfort level, start with a cute palm t-shirt (number one above is only $6.00!) and denim shorts with sandals! It is such a fun print for Spring and Summer 🙂 What do you think of this trend? I would love to chat in the comments below.
Hello friends! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. We are currently soaking up the sunshine in Maui, but I couldn’t wait to share this adorable dress with you 🙂 Pastel pink and delicate lace?! Two of my very favourite elements of Spring fashion 🙂 Added bonus, it was an absolute steal. Can there ever be too much pink in your wardrobe?! I have a feeling this one is going to sell out fast.
I have been wanting laser eye surgery for what seems like forever. For the last twenty-five years I have been wearing glasses and contact lenses. After almost losing my contacts in the ocean during our last trip to Maui, I decided perhaps I could muster up the courage to finally have it done! My husband had a handful of coworkers who had all had the procedure done and were super happy with their results. I booked a complimentary consult at the London Eye Centre in New Westminster, B.C. This is where his friends had all had their surgeries performed. I don’t know about you, but I always feel more comfortable choosing a place to go based on referrals from people who I know. At my consult they explained the procedure to me and determined that I would be a candidate. I appreciated that there was absolutely no pressure to book after my consult.
I took all of the information home and decided that I would go for the no touch PRK surgery. “PRK (photorefractive keratectomy) is a method of refractive laser surgery to correct myopia(nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism to eliminate dependency on glasses or contact lenses.” (Explanation courtesy of the London Eye Centre website.) To be honest, the though of anything actually cutting or touching my eye was too much for me to stomach, so I knew this no touch method would be the one for me, even though they explained the recovery would take a few more days. Being as I already have light-sensitive eyes, I decided to wait until the Fall when the days were a bit darker to have my surgery done, as it was explained to me that I would have increased light sensitivity while my eyes healed. For three days before the procedure I was not allowed to wear my contacts… thankfully I have been collecting cute glasses over the years… LOL!
The morning of my surgery I was super nervous… it is my eyes after all! It didn’t really matter how many people told me what an easy procedure it was and that I had nothing to worry about, I was a basket of nerves! It was also ended up being one of the sunniest day in November of course…
My entire appointment was just over an hour. Once I was taken into the operatory, my eyes were numbed with eye drops. A tiny ring was placed around my eye and they explained not to force my eyes closed or the machine would shut itself off. The procedure itself was honestly less than two minutes each eye. It actually felt very quick and was not nearly as scary as I had built it up in my mind. I felt nothing and just stared at a flashing light and listened to a clapping sound. After the surgery, a bandage contact lens was placed on my eye. This was actually the most irritating part for me personally, as the opening of my eyes are tiny. They then gave me a super stylish pair of wrap around sunglasses (haha!) and sent me on my way!
My parents were kind enough to take my babies for a sleepover that first night so that I could just come home to rest and let my husband take care of me for a couple of days. When they initially offered, I was trying to be super mom and kept arguing that I would be ok to look after them. I am SO GLAD I took them up on their offer! I am not going to lie, the first two days of recovery were not fun. I had been sent home with numbing drops for my eyes and a prescription for pain medication. I like to think my pain tolerance is pretty decent (I have had babies after all!) but I definitely needed both of these for the first few days. I basically slept the first 24 hours away. I stayed in a dark room as my eyes were crazy light-sensitive, woke up to use my antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops and then went back to sleep as it hurt too much to have my eyes open. I also felt like the front of my forehead was going to split open from pain… but thankfully that only lasted the first day! The next day I was able to get out of bed to move around my dimly lit house and I was amazed that I could already see!
I had to go for a 24 hour, 3 day and 5 day surgery post op. After my 5 day post op I was cleared to drive and returned to work. I hadn’t realized that after this procedure your eyes actually overcorrect initially. I was unable to read my computer screen clearly and had to buy myself a pair of “cheater” glasses. This is opposite to what my vision used to be. I was always nearsighted and it was objects in the distance I had a problem seeing clearly. I wore the cheaters at work for a couple of weeks post surgery and haven’t needed them since.
It has now almost been five months since my laser eye surgery and I am amazed how perfectly I can see! It still feels funny climbing into bed at night without taking my contacts out first. We are heading back to Maui in a week and I cannot wait to go swimming in the ocean and actually put my face under the water and see!!!
Lastly, this is not a sponsored post in any way. I simply wanted to share my experience for anyone who has been considering having laser eye surgery performed. I am so thrilled that I decided to have my vision corrected and now I only wish I hadn’t waited so long 🙂 Please feel free to directly message me or comment below if you have any questions regarding this procedure. It is honestly one of the best things I have ever done for myself!
I absolutely love Springtime in Vancouver! It is also probably my favourite season for fashion. The cherry blossom trees are starting to bloom and they make the streets around where we live look absolutely gorgeous. Everything just looks so refreshed 🙂 I have been loving these clear and sunny days as of late.
There are so many gorgeous pastels out for Spring right now! I love the soft neutrals and all of the lace that I have been seeing. It takes a lot of self-control for me to not buy every beautiful floral dress or delicate skirt that I see. I may have gone a little overboard collaging the items below, but I absolutely adore all of these colours!
Happy Monday everyone! Today I am doing a roundup of some of my Instagram outfits! A few of these items are super versatile for transitioning from Winter to Spring. The ruffled culottes will look super cute with a tank and some wedges once the temperature warms up around here! I am completely obsessed with these new blush pink slides… last I checked all sizes were still in stock and they are a STEAL! Under each photo is the direct link to shop if you wanted to add any of these items to your wardrobe as well!
Until I started my blog, I had no idea how many fun mural walls we had here in Vancouver! I saw this gorgeous one on the corner of South Granville and West 13th Avenue and thought it would be the perfect backdrop to show off this adorable grey knit and tulle dress I had hanging in my closet. Who doesn’t love tulle? I always feel like I am channelling my inner Carrie Bradshaw when I wear it… LOL!
Is this not the perfect dress for Spring? It is called the Tranquil Thoughts dress and I found it on a flash sale from VICI (one of my new favourite online sites!) They have the cutest and most reasonably priced clothing. I have been super pleased with everything that I have purchase 🙂
I absolutely love a good theme! Every year my girlfriends and I get together for an Academy Awards viewing party. What started up as an evening of glamour eventually turned into a competition for who could find the most “beautiful” gown… and when I say beautiful, I mean garish… In fact, we now have a collection of dresses we will promptly change anyone who dares to show up in an actual stunning dress!
Everyone fills out a Ballot with their predictions. We print these off of the Oscar website HERE. We have prizes for first, second, third place. Of course there is also a prize at our party for “best” dressed!
We have accumulated our decorations over the years. There is always a red carpet for the girls to pose on, statues to have our photos with and lots of yummy food. Most of the decorations have been hand crafted or purchased from Turkey’s Party Makers or Party City.
This party has become one of my very favourite traditions with my girlfriends 🙂 It is so fun to just get dressed up with my girls and have a lot of laughs. We are already keeping our eyes out for the perfect dresses for next year!
I am so excited for Spring that I can hardly stand it!! By the time March rolls around I am officially done with Winter! I will always be a sunshine over snow girl. I have had my fill of cozy sweaters and cute booties.. I am ready for all the floral print dresses (stay tuned for a future post on my favourites…). In the meantime I have been perusing all of the fun purses that are starting to appear. I absolutely love the brightly coloured leather and am thrilled to see that straw and raffia bags are still going to be HUGE again this year!
When I received the invitation for one of my best girlfriend’s weddings, I immediately realized I was going to need an exceptional dress! She is so classy and fabulous I knew this was going to be no ordinary soiree. I started my search for a dress that was worthy of attending these beautiful nuptials… 😉 As soon as I saw this bold, gorgeous floral party dress I knew that it would be perfect (and so was the price!)
This is one of my very favourite dresses that I have hanging in my closet. I have gotten so many compliments on it. This dress also comes in a handful of other pretty prints if you are looking for a great dress for a special occasion. It is a super feminine length and such a flattering cut! Now I just need more occasions to wear it!
I don’t know about you, but I cannot get enough of cozy loungewear right now! It most likely has something to do with the freezing temperatures outside or the surprise snow we have been waking up to…. but I am finding on my days off, all I want to do is be lazy with my boys around the house! As much as I love my party dresses, they are not really the most practical choice for sitting on the floor playing duplo or for snuggling with sticky fingered little babes… lol. I have been living in my powder pink joggers and cozy pullovers.
